A car might cost about the same as in other counties and a house the same as well. Unless you want to live in an undeveloped area. You can get a great deal if you go that route. But to live comfortably budget for realistic prices when it comes to purchasing a home.

Why you cannot retire in your own country
May I introduce to you the idea that you do not have enough money to retire where you currently live?

I know you may have insurance and it may even be guaranteed by the government. But lets just look at a couple of things. 65% of the healthcare workers will be retiring in the next 10 15 years. The schools are not attracting enough new students to fill the demand. Short supply means higher wages. Your insurance and or government are only able to go so far.

In speaking to an Investment professional in North America I learned that they determined that one could retire here in Panama with one fifth the savings needed to maintain a set standard of living. This included medical treatment and other factors. The calculation was done with apples to apples. The only difference was North America Verses Panama.
